Metal Contraband News For April 28th, 2026:

This week in Metal Contraband:

Judas Priest has just announced the upcoming release, The Best of Judas Priest, set for June 19th via Sony Music. Featuring 16 tracks of classic Judas Priest hits, the collection serves both new and longtime fans. The release arrives before the upcoming The Ballad of Judas Priest, a Tom Morello and Sam Dunn-directed documentary planned for later this year. Nuclear Messiah just dropped Black Flame on Cleopatra Records, along with the video for the latest single, “Look At Yourself”, featuring Sebastian Bach. You can check out that video here: https://youtu.be/NI4H8HU_wLQ?si=puWwj54Rpbuy9Dyq. Chris Poland says, “The Black Flame record is full of really great songs, but one that really stands out is ‘Look at Yourself.’ It’s the most progressive song on the record and Sebastian Bach’s vocal performance is truly inspired. He nails this tune to the wall in true Bach fashion”. Sebastian Bach adds, Uriah Heep is a band that my dad listened to a lot…that was my introduction to Uriah Heep. Of course the song ‘Easy Livin’’ was a big hit song, but ‘Look At Yourself’ was a deep cut and it also reminds me of Deep Purple a little bit, the sound of it. I love ‘70s rock n’ roll and the fact that Mick Box from Uriah Heep is on this track is incredible. Bob Daisley from Ozzy’s band – I never thought I would record with him so it’s unbelievable. I’m adding the tone of my voice to the song ‘Look At Yourself’ and I’ve added some high harmonies that are not on the original. I’m trying to make it different, but the same. So I hope Mick Box can hear that it’s honoring the original version, but then I throw in a couple of harmonies and screams and what have you!” For more on Nuclear Messiah, head to: https://www.nuclearmessiah.com/.

At The Gates just released The Ghost of a Future Dead, their new album via Century Media Records, marking a special tribute to frontman Tomas Lindberg, who tragically passed away in September 2025. Sepultura’s farewell release, The Cloud of Unknowing, is out now via Nuclear Blast Records, while the band is currently on the road for their Celebrating Life Through Death tour. You can hear the latest single, “All Souls Rising”, here: https://youtu.be/ID3_UbCTqHw?si=21a-MdimyPa9gqXP. Frontman Derrick Green says of the track, “The core idea for the track was inspired by a book by Madison Smartt Bell about the slave rebellion in 1780’s Haiti. On a broader level, it speaks to what’s happening in society today – how much can be changed when we come together beyond race, religion, and politics. It’s also about the changes we can make within ourselves”. Sepultura will be touring the U.S. and Canada through the end of May, before heading to Europe for a run including plenty of festival dates. Against The Grave is just about to release Deathproof 101, their album set for May 5th – in the meantime, you can check out their latest single, “Wrong”, with the music video here: https://youtu.be/DDKBI4s39Gk?si=7Yg0lXmjRF0yyp0F. On the making of the video, vocalist Jordan Gaw says, “‘Wrong’ is the last track on Deathproof 101 to get the video treatment. ATG has committed to making videos and images for all our music, we are passionate about giving visuals that pair with our songs. When we approached this one, we took inspiration from Depeche Mode and their video for “Wrong”, but we wanted to completely turn it upside down psychotically, we think it turned out pretty crazy!” Head to: https://linktr.ee/againstthegrave for more.
