Iron Maiden has some news, but not in the way of new music – the legendary band will be collaborating with Marvel for a unique collection of merchandise featuring the long-running iconic mascot of the band, Eddie. Iron Maiden manager Rod Smallwood comments, “Eddie has long stood shoulder to shoulder with the greatest super-heroes and we’re also pretty proud of the Worlds we created for his many incarnations – from battlefields to Egyptian tombs to frozen icescapes or futuristic cities. Juxtaposing some of the most recognizable characters in pop art & comic book culture into planet Maiden has been an ambition of ours for years and working with Marvel and their unparalleled character-based IP is the perfect fit in this day & age. To see such iconic characters alongside Eddie is something our fans have discussed for years and we think that the twist of placing Venom, Thanos, Thor or Deadpool in our Maiden worlds will excite fans of both cultures”. More info on the collection is coming soon, so keep an eye on: for details.

Death Angel officially unleashed their highly-anticipated live album, The Bastard Tracks, this week via Nuclear Blast. Recorded live at The Great American Music Hall in their hometown of San Francisco on May 22nd, 2021, the album features deep cuts and never-performed song’s from the band’s discography. You can check out the live video for the song “The Absence of Light” right here: Frontman Mark Osegueda says of the track, “‘Absence of Light’ is a song that I have been championing for since the album that it is on called ‘Relentless Retribution’ was released in 2010. It’s an extremely dark song lyrically that sits on top of this thunderous and driving riff and beat. It is not a fast song by any means. But! It’s HEAVY!! DARK and HEAVY!!! We finally took the time to re-familiarize ourselves with it and we were all surprised how HEAVY it sounded when we all played it together in the room! I’m pretty confident it will rear its DARK and HEAVY head in some future live sets. In front of an actual audience!” For more info, plus all the details on the upcoming 2022 The Bay Strikes Back Tour alongside Testament and Exodus, head to:

Hypocrisy took the term “album launch” to a whole new level with their new record, Worship, when they released it last week via Nuclear Blast Records. The release was accompanied by a special listening session featuring the whole album streamed in full alongside its music videos, plus a unique video of the Worship vinyl being launched into space. According to a release, “The journey was completed on a bespoke launch vehicle that carried and supported the record through the atmosphere. The craft was lifted by a large hydrogen-filled balloon reaching a maximum altitude of over 120,000 feet/36.57 km above the Earth. It fell back down to Earth reaching speeds over 200mph until it re-entered the troposphere (where we all live) where the onboard parachute slowed the craft to a gentle walking pace by the time it touched down”. Ad Infinitum is following up on last month’s Napalm Records release of their second album, Chapter II – Legacy, with a brand-new music video, for the track “Inferno”, and you can check it out here: The band says of the track, “One month since the release of Chapter II – Legacy and the positive feedbacks received went straight to our heart. We decided to keep the party going a little longer with one more video featuring one of the band’s favorite tracks on this second album”. On the album, Ad Infinitum adds, “Chapter II – Legacy holds a very special place in our heart. It represents months and months of hard work of four bandmates, for a result that we are proud to call “self-produced”. For this record, we decided to work without the influence of an external producer during the songwriting process and to team up with Elias Holmlid for the beautiful and epic orchestrations and of course with Jacob Hansen who recorded [vocals], mixed, mastered and participated to the post production. A younger and heavier sound that defines Ad Infinitum like never before”. For more on the band, visit:
